The Top 10 House Tracks of 2020 – According to Dave Winnel
Who’s everyone’s favorite Aussie? That’s right, it’s Dave Winnel! He has been one of the most versatile producers on our artist roster since he joined the family about five years back and consistently knocks it out of the ballpark with his insane productions. All this made him the go-to person to ask for a Top 10 House Tracks of 2020 and he happily shares with you his take on the best House records of the year.
#10 Dave Winnel - MILO
I had to include one of my own records from 2020. My favorite release this year would have to be ‘MILO’. I made this right at the start of lockdown and you can hear the more chilled vibes throughout. It’s named after one of my favorite Aussie drinks, MILO. Mmm, delicious!
#9 Sofi Tukker - House Arrest
I had to add this one because I feel like it’s almost the (unintentional) stay-at-home anthem of 2020. I love Sofi Tukker and want to collab with them.
#8 Space Cadet & KLP - Energy
Some pure homegrown Aussie magic right here. Space Cadet & KLP bring the energy with this one. I’ve heard it thrashed on the radio here in Australia and I cannot get enough.
#7 Anabel Englund - So Hot - (MK x Nightlapse Remix)
This remix is incredible. It’s like Trance and House music made a baby. It’s perfect. I’ve definitely smashed this in the car on a few road trips this year.
#6 Deadmau5 feat, Kiesza - Bridged By A Lightwave (Tommy Trash Remix)
How exciting to see Tommy Trash remix Deadmau5 again! 2020 ain’t all that bad after all. I loved the original of track too, but the TT Remix gives it an even more classic sounding ‘MAU5’, which is what we all need in our lives.
#5 Foals - Into The Surf (Hot Since 82 Remix)
Hot Since 82 has not stopped all year; all his releases have been fire. This one has to be my favorite of his, maybe even my all-time favorite.
#4 Disclosure, Fatoumata Diawara - Douha (Mali Mali)
I’ve been streaming loads of Disclosure´s livestreams this year, through which I’ve been learning so many amazing little secrets. I was hyped for ‘Douha (Mali Mali)’ to drop when I heard them announce it during a livestream. Love this record.
#3 Lastlings - No Time (RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix)
The half-Japanese, half-Australian brother-sister duo Lastlings have just put out an album and the whole thing is incredible. ‘No Time’ was the first single off it and the RÜFÜS DU SOL remix takes it to another level. Been on repeat in the car to and from the studio most of the year.
#2 Paul Woolford, Diplo - Looking For Me feat. Kareen Lomax
This song took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting something so uplifting and housey with Diplo’s name attached to it, but I’m glad Diplo and Paul Woolford teamed up, because this is pure magic. I’ve even been hearing it on daytime commercial radio too!
#1 KC Lights - Girl
There have been so many amazing songs this year that it’s been hard to narrow it down to my top 10. It was however easy to pick my very favorite track of the year. KC Lights’ ‘Girl’ takes the spot. This song has the perfect balance of tribal drums, uplifting melodies and overall good vibes. I love this.
