X RECORDINGS PRESENTS ITS FIRST EP: ‘X FILES: 001’
Four of the most requested IDs from Adriatique’s X shows - from Xoro, Orsay, Ae:ther and Vomee - arrive together on the label’s first EP.
X Recordings releases ‘X Files: 001’ - four tracks that have been building hype since long before any of them had a release date.
Leading the EP is Xoro’s ‘Syncopated’, carried by Adriatique through Coachella, Ultra Miami, Awakenings, [UNVRS] Ibiza and their own X event on the Thames in London. The UK producer arrives with Armin van Buuren collaboration ‘God Is In The Soundwaves’ behind him, and ‘Syncopated’ marks his first step into melodic house, trading melodic statement for rhythmic tension.
Orsay follows with ‘Let You Go’. Classically trained on piano from the age of six and now based between Paris and London, he has released on Ninja Tune and Kitsuné, with support from RÜFÜS DU SOL, WhoMadeWho and Adriatique.
Amsterdam-based Vomee turns to the low end on ‘Feel My Bass’, drawing on a catalogue made with Adriatique’s Siamese label and sets at X in Barcelona, Buenos Aires and Rio.
Closing the EP, Berlin-based Ae:ther brings ‘X Is For Lovers’, built on the ambient-leaning emotion and club weight he has developed across Crosstown Rebels and Afterlife.
Together the four map the range of the label’s sound, from melodic and atmospheric to direct and rhythm-led.
With months of support behind them, these four tracks arrive as the first chapter of X Recordings.
