Maykel Piron Graces Billboard's Annual Indie Power Players List For Third Year In A Row

Consistently ensuring growth is a pretty mean feat for any label executive navigating the treacherous waters of the music business, let alone if you manage to stay afloat in times of a global pandemic. Maykel Piron, the CEO of Amsterdam-, New York- and London-based record label Armada Music, is one of the industry leaders whose been doing brilliantly behind the steering wheel, and it has earned him his third consecutive inclusion in the annual Indie Power Players list of globally renowned music platform Billboard.

Maykel Piron, who’s been the driving force behind Armada Music since he founded the label alongside Armin van Buuren and David Lewis back in 2003, looks back on a particularly challenging year. “Dance music is our bread and butter, so we took a hit when clubs closed”, he says. “But we’ve got such an amazing team here. I can’t stress this enough. Everyone’s been working so hard, pulling out all the stops to keep the numbers up and each other motivated. I’m beyond proud of them, and my inclusion in this list is a testament to their phenomenal efforts.”

Under Piron’s guidance, Armada Music has grown into the biggest independent dance music label in the world. A six-time winner of the IDMA for ‘Best Global Label’, Armada Music represents and cultivates the creative exploits of some of the biggest players in the electronic music game, including Andrew Rayel, Armin van Buuren, ARTY, Brando, Cat Dealers, Ferry Corsten, Loud Luxury, Morgan Page, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and Tensnake.
