Rico Bernasconi vs. Ace of Base - Cruel Summer
Remember this one? We're pretty sure you do, cause the original has been floating on radiowaves for more than 25 years already. In 1983, Bananarama scored a big top 10 hit with 'Cruel Summer', after which Swedish pop-act Ace of Base covered it in 1998. The cover didn't only turn into another big chart-chaser, but also caused an international breakthrough. With 'Cruel Summer', Ace of Base, received the golden status in the United States, with a top 10 position in the Billboard Chart.
The melodramatic summerhit has been an inspiration to many producers, leading to a countless wave of remakes and remixes. This time, it's Rico Bernasconi giving his vision. This German DJ/producer is known for projects like Master Blaster and Vinylshakerz, under his Rico Bass alias. Rico has gone solo since last year. Next to his well-known remix of 'Yves Larock - Rise Up', which helped getting it up the numerous dance charts, Rico is now ready to score with 'Cruel Summer'.
His 'Cruel Summer' has that little extra bit of dance it needed to do justice down the clubs. Melodic progressive and contagious house come together in this bittersweet after-summer hit. The sensual, sexy music video makes this red-hot release complete.
