Classic of the week: Signum & Scott Mac - Coming On Strong

January 13, 2013
Lush, dreamy vocals and a sun-drenched melody. Pounding beats and energetic, proggy delight. It may have been the big hit of 2008’s summer season, but the fires of ‘Daydream’ have yet to fade. The collaboration of Markus Schulz and Andy Moor still haunts the minds of ten-thousands, up until this very day. Our classic of the week is a tune that knows how to surprise, time and again.

A tight house beat, funky melody and pure ’99 trance sound right in the middle. If you’ve been around the clubbing scene for the past 15 years, you won’t have a hard time remembering the classic that haunted the clubs in 1999. ‘Coming On Strong’ was the second collab of Dutch duo Signum and UK producer Scott Mac, and one that recalls quite a few memories…

Part of EDM history, ‘Coming On Strong’ was released in the early days of trance. Spreading across the European continent like a virus, the trance sound became one of the biggest dance genres within no time. Signum, who had already released the successful ‘What Ya Got 4 Me’, felt it was time for something even bigger. And so they let their trancy sound melt with the harder edge of Scott Mac’s, resulting in ‘Coming On Strong’. It became a solid favourite and still has a unique sound to it.
