Armada ADE 2017 Highlights

October 09, 2018
When the nights grow darker and the Halloween decorations start popping out of the ground, you know October is at your doorstep. This tenth month of the year might stand for looming winter and lots of rainy days to some, but to hundreds of thousands of electronic music enthusiasts, it will always be the month of the biggest dance music conference in the world: Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).

Running from Wednesday, October 17 to Sunday, October 21 this year, ADE is all about the hundreds of parties, panels, events and networking events for aspiring, emerging and established artists alike. In all honesty, there’s nothing quite like it. To get you psyched for the madness of this year’s edition, we’ve compiled a list of all the fun stuff we were up to during last year’s ADE, way back in 2017.

There’s something magical about bringing together different generations of artists. On the second day of our three-day ‘Armada Invites: ADE Special’ marathon, we had the pleasure of welcoming not only legendary House icons such as Kevin Saunderson, Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez, but also an extremely talented youngster called Federico Gardenghi. When young meets old and generations of House music intertwine, you know you’ve got a phenomenal party on your hands.

When ADE is in town, there’s loads of stuff going on practically anywhere in the city. And that’s pretty cool and all, but how do you get your artists from one place to another without too much of a hassle? Well, we knew the answer to that one. Just like the year before, we went all out to secure ourselves several top-speed, head-turning Jaguars with full artist branding on the sides. If you’re going to try and make your way through the city and the massive crowds, you might as well try to go out in style, right?

We already knew just how talented De Hofnar was, but it was time to clue up the rest of the world as well. During ADE, we hosted an all-out showcase of De Hofnar’s ‘Kings And Queens’ album in our pop-up store about two months prior to the album’s official release, and the response was amazing. On another note, he just dropped ‘Kings And Queens Pt. 2’, so you might want to give that one a listen as well to get into the ADE mood.

Having an amazing, high-tech radio studio at the heart of our HQ has its benefits, you know. On the Thursday of last year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, before and during the first day of our three-day ‘Armada Invites: ADE Special’ marathon, none other than Armin van Buuren himself locked himself in the radio studio with Trance’s finest artists for a full day of A State Of Trance. Switching between the studio, the live sets in our in-office club and even the special ASOT event as AFAS Live later on, Armin van Buuren and ASOT gave all dance music lovers an entire day of Trance paradise plus a truckload of unforgettable memories.

There were almost too many to count, but we’d still like to single out the events of Fedde Le Grand and Lost Frequencies as two of the absolute highlights of our ADE 2017. Each hosting their own night, they once again proved to everyone out there that they know how to spoil the crowd and make them go wild for many hours straight. And who knows, those incredible live shows may have sparked even more madness to come this time around. You’ll see in less than a month!
