Ron Hagen & Al Exander – Last Minute
Not one, but two chips off the old block, are responsible for the Hagen collab of ‘Last Minute’. Ron Hagen, one half of the famed Signum duo, teams up with his brother Vincent Alexander Hagen to create a trancy buzz with a family tie character. Ron Hagen definitely ain’t shy of making a little trip to the Balearic trance sound, given his Pascal M. collab and warm-up hit ‘Riddles In The Sand’ last year. This year, he’s touching the guitar with his brother Al Exander, to create a new summer vibe. Making waves on the first disc of Armin van Buuren’s ‘A State of Trance 2010’ album, ’Last Minute’ is ready to raise the temperature.

‘Last Minute’ connects the musical synergy of these two brothers, and mixes warm-hearted progressive with Balearic trance. Many hours in the studio have made ‘Last Minute’ arise, and the output is a track that’ll last as long as their brotherly bond.

Ehren Stowers – Ascent / Frequency
Some people just know how to read the minds of clubbers. With years of experience as a promoter and DJ, it’s no surprise his new EP is rocking the A State of Trance label. A solid 15 solo releases and remixes for the likes of Solarstone, John Askew and Corderoy gave the New Zealand born producer a swell kick-off to his musical career.

Now living in London, Ehren has played in some of UK’s finest clubs, feeling the crowd and feeding his creativity. After some time well spent in the studio, he came up with a remarkable duo: ‘Ascent’ and ‘Frequency’. It stood out so much, that Armin van Buuren himself had to have it on his ASOT label and feature ‘Ascent’ on his A State of Trance 2010. We can’t thank him enough, cause another highlight in trance music has landed.

‘Frequency’ has a melody that get into your system right from first play, soothing but stirred up with a thumping bass and rough edge that’ll make the clubbers go absolutely wild. ‘Ascent’ is the real trancer of this duo – with strong synths, a true melodic takeover and everything in its right place to put the trance crowd into a frenzy. Ehren Stowers has got the skills, and he’s definitely not afraid to use them.

Grube & Hovsepian – Conviction
The Grube & Hovespian sound is slowly but steady taking over. US producers Tim Grube and Mike Hovsepian are working on a masterplan, and take in the EDM world remix by remix and track by track. After remixes for Markus Schulz, M.I.K.E. and Fei-Fei, they’re taking the lead with a new track completely their own: ‘Conviction’.

It’s no crime to mix housy kicks with big room progressive, but the outcome is criminally good. ‘Conviction’ is not the type of tune you turn up to catch breath, it’s one big pond of energy. Building gently, but bursting out into a well-flowing, warm shot of vivacity.

If you’re up for a more distortive, maddening approach of ‘Conviction’, the remix of Greek producer Basil O’Glue will do. Does melodic, soothing prog tickle your fancy? Then get taken over by the remix of French producer Klems. Last but not least, if you’re on for a personal highlight and breakout moment, release yourself with the Skytech Stadium remix, big room all the way!

Coldharbour Selections Part 23
With the summer in full flow, Markus Schulz presents another chapter of his much acclaimed Coldharbour Selections series, showcasing three tracks which have had a regular presence on his Global DJ Broadcast radio show.

Leading the way are a pair of Belfast boys who have become firm favorites among Coldharbour followers in such a short space of time. Kevin Murphy and Danny Cullen, united as Tucandeo, follow-up their massive collaborative effort alongside Beat Service with their debut solo effort on the label, entitled ‘Far From Reality’. It is a track which Markus himself has described as possessing those vintage Coldharbour qualities, and consequently has been one of the most requested tracks on the show since being debuted in April.

Next up is a man who needs no introduction, with his remixes of Mike Foyle’s Deadly Nightshade and Rex Mundi’s Opera of Northern Ocean demolishing dancefloors all year long. Dutchman Finne Jager, better known to the world as Phynn, introduces a new production moniker for Coldharbour in the form of Binary Star, and yields ‘The Halo Effect’. One of the regular players on Las Vegas ’10, the track lit up the Trance Energy mainstage in April, and cements Phynn’s reputation as one of the leading lights in trance music today.

And finally, Magic Island regulars Walsh & McAuley make their Coldharbour bow with ‘Distant Cry’. They bring their summer vibes and give them a Coldharbour twist, and the reactions to the track have been well received thus far.

The summer of Coldharbour continues by honoring its traditions of the Coldharbour Selections series. The 23rd edition will certainly entertain many in those long summer nights.

Chris Reece & Nadia Ali – The Notice
The third single of the forthcoming album of Chris Reece will definitely put their name on the world map of dance. Joining forces with one of the first ladies and most requested vocalists in dance music, Nadia Ali, Chris Reece ticks the ‘summerhit’ box with ‘The Notice’.

A light feel-good track, touching the very edge of prog-house and trance and riding a piano-driven, soothing melody. ’The Notice’ wins you over with a warm sound, Nadia Ali’s characteristic vocals and playful details of which you’ll discover more and more with every listen.

Who else than Swedish beat-chef StoneBridge would be fit for a remix on this summerhit? His ‘Summer Float’ remix is sexy house all the way, feeding your every fibre with pure feel-goodness.

M6 – The Rising / Obscura
Whether we’re talking about his techy and trancy anthems or about his little trips along the boundaries of minimal and house, there’s always something special about those M6 productions. Maybe it’s the fact that Dutch DJ and producer Mark Sixma has roots in classical music. Besides playing the piano for years, the guy clearly has a sixth sense for big melodies and atmospheric sounds. But maybe it’s also his yearlong club experience, that gives him the right feel on how to combine techno-basslines with deeper melodic pieces.

However, with his new productions ‘The Rising’ and ‘Obscura’ he created another sparkling duo of trance delight. With those two tracks on the Soundpiercing imprint, he once again caught the right big room melodies to send shivers down your spine. Like in his previews tracks ‘Opus Spectrum’ and ‘The Flow’, he lets the heartbreaking effect flow in perfect balance to the floormoving beats. ‘The Rising’ and ‘Obscura’ will surely be done justice at the many trance festivals and events these upcoming months.

John O’Callaghan – Desert Orchid
Whatever project he sets his mind to, John O‘Callaghan makes it come alive. He creates a soul to his ideas, and lets them outshine the rest. It’s all about their effect on the floor, and his new ‘Desert Orchid’ is a true winner on that field. From its soft, almost inaudible whispers to the deep bass hitting your heart with a new rhythm to pound to, draped in a warm, trancy melody and sparling, energetic tech-effect. ‘Desert Orchid’ has soul, and will take over the floors with an enchanting impact.

If anyone feels a track like this, it’s Dutchman Thomas Bronzwaer. Mister ‘Certitude’, ‘Look Ahead’ and ‘Collider’ knows more than well how to boost ‘Desert Orchid’ and let his own sound slip right into the core of it. On his remix, the ‘Desert Orchid’ soul is energetic, with a core of pure trance delight.

Capstar – I Need You
It was 2006, the year that the floors trembled on the housy beats of Capstar’s ‘Do It Easy’. He’s taken his own title very serious, cause almost 4 years after that first one, he proceeds his floor-sweeping mission with a new track. This time, the Dutchman takes charge of the Zouk label, with a 7 minute bite of pure groovy house. Sturdy and with an attitude, Capstar brings you in a housy state with the melodic but peak-time cracker ‘I Need You’.

If the warm Arabic theme in ‘1st Mix’ doesn’t tickle your fancy, the stripped down, tougher ‘2nd Mix’ will do the job!
