Dakota – Johhny The FoxJune 17th, 2009
Although the name has been around for 10 years, Markus Schulz’s Dakota project has really burst into life in 2009, storming the download charts and on heavy rotation among the world’s biggest DJs.
Following on from the monstrous Chinook, the second single to be released from the upcoming Thoughts Become Things album is Johnny The Fox – with a deep, groovy bassline supplimented with a melody inspired from the early electronic movements of the 80s. The track won the Global DJ Broadcast Global Selection accolade on its first attempt back in May.
On remix duties for this occasion, Austrian producers David Barnes and Daniel Heatcliff team up to devastating effect. They immediately gathered Markus’ attention at the beginning of the year, and due to their track Pyjamaparty such a powerful antidote in the clubs, he immediately chose it to appear on the much heralded Toronto ’09 compilation.
With their remix of Johnny The Fox, they stick to a similar vein – a big room, dirty bassline, leading the way to a powerful and euphoric breakdown that has rocked dancefloors since being debuted to the world at Toronto’s Guvernment and various venues across Miami’s Winter Music Conference week.
The cast list of support for both the original and Barnes & Heatcliff remix of Johnny The Fox reads like a who’s who of trance – Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, Judge Jules and Marcus Schossow among others featuring the track heavily on their radio playlists. With both versions brimming with plenty on offer, Johnny The Fox looks set to dominate dancefloors heading into the summer season.
Johnny The Fox is available on Coldharbour Recordings Red exclusively on Beatport. You can listen to samples and / or purchase the track at the link below:
