Turkish Music Channel gets fined for Armin van Buuren video

October 4th, 2007

The International Law Office announced that the Turkish Music Channel NumberOne TV (NOTV) has been fined by the Supreme Board For Radio & Television (SBRT). According to Turkish government, whom commits to law for Radio & Television Broadcast, NOTV has violated several laws with a too early broadcast of a video of Dutchmen ‘Armin van Buuren’. The Turkish Government claims that the video of the song ‘Love You More’ contains damaging images for children. For video clips in that category the broadcast time has been set from 23:00 till 05:00. The stockholders as well as the management from NOTV think that the fine of no less then EUR 200.000,= is out of proportion. According to NOTV they are not the only one broadcasting outside the nightly allowed hours. Stockholder Ali Karacan sees the claim as proof that the government tries to make life difficult on the smaller radio & television channels to survive. NOTV is according to Karacan not as powerful as the bigger Turkish Music Channels and therefore and easy target.
