The Blizzard

Once you’ve been introduced to the sounds of Norwegian duo The Blizzard, it’s hard to steer back to reality. Teamed up since 2006, DJ and producer duo Lars Nyheim and Tore Vatle Jensen make sure to put the world on mute and let everything else fade to the background. From outstanding originals and stellar remixes to thriving DJ sets across the planet, The Blizzard has definitely been cooking up a storm. And a big one indeed.

In 2007, their debut single became one of the biggest tunes in trance land. ‘Kalopsia’ was hammered by the DJ elite, from the likes of Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Above & Beyond to Sander van Doorn and Andy Moor. Being featured on Armin’s ‘A State of Trance 2007’ compilation made the tune explode and brought Lars and Tore a chance to remix ‘Envio – For You’ and ‘Kirsty Hawkshaw meets Tenishia – Reasons to Forgive’. Many more remixes would follow, with The Blizzard takes on tunes by Armin van Buuren, Boom Jinx, Andy Moor, Mike Foyle and Orjan Nilsen.

In the meantime, The Blizzard extended their discography, providing one big original after the next. Having developed their own, distinctive sound, melodic and full of energy, the duo impressed dance land with ‘Iselilja’ (feat. Norwegian folk band Gåte), ‘Piercing The Fog’ and collaborations ‘My Inner Island’ and ‘Metanoia’ with Ukraine producer Omnia. One of the highlights in their list of successes, was The Blizzard’s collaboration with Omnia and Dutch singer Susana. ‘Closer’ didn’t only hit the charts, but also earned a place in the hearts of the global crowd. With the consistent support of Armin van Buuren to back them up, their originals made it to his globally renowned A State of Trance compilations 6 years in a row. And who knows what 2013 will bring…

Lars Nyheim:
DJ and producer Lars Nyheim was born in Norway in 1984. From early age on, Lars loved the everlasting beat of electronic dance music. In the late 90’s he discovered the trance genre and started collecting music and CD’s. After some years he decided to buy turntables and practise his mixing. Soon after, he also started to produce his own tracks. After some years he teamed up with talented producer Tore Vatle Jensen and founded ‘The Blizzard’.

Tore Vatle Jensen:
Composer and keyboard player Tore Vatle Jensen was born in Norway in 1979. His musical preferences are everything from jazz, 70′s funk, hip hop, film scores and classical music to just about every electronic genre around. After being a bedroom producer for 12-13 years, with aliases such as ‘Tinnitus Project’ and ‘Koma Supra’, he graduated as a sound engineer from NISS (Nordic Institute of Stage and Studio) in Oslo, Norway. Later that year (2006) he teamed up with Lars Nyheim and founded ‘The Blizzard’.
